Emotionale Selbstregulation als Dimension von Bildung
Abstract:
The survey of students (N=134) reveals patterns of how feelings of loneliness are dealt with through conversation. The fact that chatbots are used “because I feel less lonely when I do so” can be explained statistically by the fact that people like to use them when they have an emotional problem, feel stressed as a result, and want to talk about it immediately and preferably around the clock, expecting the conversation partner to be constantly and unlimitedly available. This pattern of turning to chatbots in this situation and even preferring them to a “real person” can be distinguished from a preference for friends and family as conversation partners, a preference for partners, and a preference for psychologists. Overall, it is clear that when dealing with emotional problems, students do not like to engage in conversations if they are being judged by the other person.
