Abstract:
This paper presents a literature review on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in quality assurance, with a specific focus on degree programme accreditation. Adopting a socio-technical approach and considering the three key phases of accreditation, the study demonstrates that while self-reporting gains objective evidence through the automated analysis of module descriptions and curricula, the evaluation process is rendered more reliable through logical verification systems such as SemaLogic. However, the normative core of the final decision remains a human prerogative. Against this background, AI in programme accreditation should be conceptualized as an embedded assistance system, the design and implementation of which must be subject to quality-assuring and participatory negotiation processes.
