Abstract:
This article explores the rise of digital platforms in the context of educational governance, as exemplified by OER platforms established in Germany. First, platformization is defined as an academic subject. Then, this trend is characterised as a challenge in contemporary university settings. Finally, the article introduces three OER portals funded by local governments in Germany and discusses four implications of the rise of OER portals for educational governance (institutionalization, datafication, human resource development and funding).
