Abstract:
This study examines the internationality of academic career paths and publication records of newly tenured business professors in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Based on a hand-collected dataset of 1,164 professors, we document substantial differences across countries. Professors appointed in Switzerland publish more frequently in top-tier journals (A/A+ according to VHB-JOURQUAL 3) than their peers in Germany and Austria. Furthermore, newly appointed professors in Switzerland demonstrate a higher degree of international mobility.
