Abstract:
This chapter describes the formative evaluation of the AI-Campus 2.0 project at Humboldt-University of Berlin. The project aims to incorporate AI literacy into higher education using Open Educational Resources (OER). Project activities include offering OER-based courses for students. The evaluation employs a mixed-methods approach, including interviews, surveys, and course evaluations. Our results highlight AI’s significance and the critical need for AI literacy in curricula. Key challenges include educators’ limited AI literacy and determining effective curricular integration. Course evaluations suggest OER can be an effective strategy to teach AI, if combined with in-person sessions used for exchange and discussion. The concluding discussion emphasizes the need for transdisciplinary perspectives and approaches in teaching AI in higher education.
