Abstract:
The University of Konstanz’s quality management system encompasses all performance areas of the university (University of Konstanz 2014, p. 5) and thus includes the career development of early career researchers below professorship level. This article looks at the university’s internal quality objectives and criteria in the area of career development and presents some of the quality management instruments (monitoring system, doctoral researchers’ survey, placement records for advanced postdocs). Selected data show how quality management in the area of career development is practised at the University of Konstanz and how difficulties are dealt with.
