Abstract:
The compatibility of work and care responsibilities represents a key challenge for equality policy within the university context. Although this topic is increasingly addressed in public debates, there is often a lack of robust data and nuanced perspectives at the institutional level to develop targeted support measures. Against this backdrop, the Equality Council of Department 04 at Goethe University Frankfurt initiated a comprehensive quantitative online survey in spring 2025 among students and teaching staff. The aim was to obtain a differentiated picture of care commitments within the department and their impact on study, teaching, and academic work. The results showed that compatibility represents a major challenge, but it can be addressed by various framework conditions provided by the university.
