Abstract:
The shortcomings of school instruction and their causes have been widely discussed. Much has been analyzed, advocated, and tested regarding the reform of teacher education. And yet, a comprehensive transformation has failed to materialize. The broader context has also changed — yet continuous adaptation remains insufficient or is not taking place at all. The HSW discussion examines the current state of the education system, addresses the realities of the classroom, explores the causes (including the increasingly diverse student body), identifies teacher education as one of the main causes of shortcomings in instruction, and concludes by calling for reforms to teacher training programs.
