Abstract:
Attracting top talent is a number one priority for all kinds of organizations, including those in higher education. To do so, organization-internal practices that are socially responsible are a key factor. This paper presents a novel conceptual framework, integrating various factors of internal Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) outlined in past research, theorizing their effects on employee perceptions of the organization’s internal CSR as well as their subsequent outcomes, i.e., job satisfaction and retention. The paper tests the developed framework using a survey study amongst employees in a German university. Results provide partial support for the theorized framework. The authors discuss implications for future research as well as for the management of higher education institutions.
