Abstract:
The emergence of ChatGPT triggers conversations and discourse about the authorship, plagiarism, and originality. A narrow application of the continuously developing Natural Language Learning Processes (NLP) it fosters various reactions in academia and politics. The efforts of institutions like the Tech Diplomacy network paves a way towards negotiate stewardship. The US government has recently developed new grant avenues for academia to invest into the development of AI related topics, forming and funding institutes that focus on astronomy, material research and various new methods to strengthen AI, signaling its understanding of the currency of the topic and providing education with some needed resources. Most visually oriented or creative disciplines are naturally foregrounded in current social media trends and expose various issues associated with copyright and ownership. Like other design disciplines architecture attempts to sidestep this conversation, emphasizing AI as an active contributing partner and offering an aesthetic-philosophical framework, embracing the proposed posthuman phase. Design pedagogy in architecture attempts to follow suit and negotiate the threshold between pragmatic application and visionary, autonomous design with AI.
