Abstract:
This article builds on my practical experience in research and science communication to examine a dual role of evaluation: It shows how evaluation functions both as a tool for programme-level steering and accountability and as a means to improve formats, understand target groups and support professional learning. By reviewing current practices the article highlights tensions between these logics and discusses how quality development in research, teaching, and outreach can benefit when both perspectives are systematically connected – while remaining attentive to the limits and risks of evaluation-based governance.
