Abstract:
The present study evaluates the PhaST, a scholastic aptitude test for pharmaceutical studies, which encompasses tasks on cognitive skills and scientific knowledge. The analyses focus on the test’s predictive and incremental validity beyond the high school grade point average. Test data from a low-stakes and a high-stakes situation and aver-age university grades from basic studies and advanced studies in pharmacy were analyzed. The results confirm the value of PhaST in predicting academic success throughout the first years of pharmacy education on its own and in addition to high school average grades. Future research should include the results of the second state examination, which is the final examination required to terminate pharmacy education.
