Abstract:
The Third Space (Wissenschaftsmanagement) has developed into a significant group at German universities. It is not only viewed positively and presents university management with organisational challenges that can soon no longer be ignored. A closer look at the controversial discussion shows, however, that the debate has so far not been solution-orientated. This article first attempts to clarify what is meant by Third Space (Wissenschaftsmanagement) and who is included in it. It then takes a closer look at the rather diffuse, sometimes contradictory discussion. After describing the organisational problems, fundamental considerations on the reorganisation of the supporting departments are made and a conclusion is drawn.
