Abstract:
The coronavirus pandemic has severely curtailed opportunities for social interaction for students. As a result, many students reported feeling lonely and disconnected. This prompted us to develop a university-wide tool to create more space for social interaction. To this end, we developed the online platform COMMUNITY, which students can use to network across study subjects and semesters in topic-specific forums. This article describes the development process of COMMUNITY and provides an overview of the concept and structure of the platform. We then describe our experiences of using the platform and reflect on possible limits to its use as well as visions for the future.
