Abstract:
Long periods between signing a contract and starting vocational training often lead to uncertainty, loss of contact, and dropouts, especially among young people. Studies show that limited communication during this phase weakens emotional attachment to the employer. Structured preboarding helps by maintaining early contact, providing orientation, and creating a sense of belonging. The example of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) shows that digital preboarding can increase engagement and reduce dropouts before work begins.
