Abstract:
The University of Cologne is modernising the onboarding of new employees. As a first milestone, the welcome formats for new employees have been revised. In addition to the central organisational information for the start, the culture and values of the university have been communicated. Important signals such as the welcome by a member of the Rectorate during the first module of the welcome formats also show the approachability of the university management and appreciation. It is important to everyone involved to strengthen identification with the university as a whole. This is also achieved by jointly addressing all new employees, including newly appointed staff. In the pilot phase since March, the series of events has invariably met with a positive response.
