Abstract:
In higher education institutions, expectations regarding organisational culture are often addressed in the form of culture change projects. Using Stefan Kühl’s systems theory concept of organisational culture, this article examines the practical suitability of a concept that has so far been little tested in the discourse on the possibilities and limits of changing organisational culture in HEIs. To this end, it briefly examines the challenges of cultural change in higher education institutions (Chapter 1) and then retraces the systems-theoretical version of organisational culture (Chapter 2). Using the example of changing the teaching/learning culture, it is shown how this concept can be applied to the planning phase of culture change projects in HEIs (Chapter 3).
