Abstract:
The case study “New Work as a Game Changer for Innovation and Transfer from Universities” illustrates how New Work at TU Dresden’s excellence center TUD|excite goes far beyond spatial optimization. Former office and archive spaces were transformed into flexible, inspiring environments that enhance creativity, open knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Through participatory processes, a carefully designed spatial and furnishing design concept, and the support of a dedicated New Work team, staff acceptance was strengthened while also increasing the center’s attractiveness for students, researchers, and external partners. Early insights reveal that New Work serves as a catalyst for innovation and transfer, positioning the university as a future-oriented knowledge hub.
