Abstract:
It is becoming increasingly difficult for universities of applied sciences in Germany to fill vacancies for professors. Although the battle for the best talents will intensify in the coming years, most of the universities of applied sciences have not yet developed target group-specific recruitment strategies and measures. Instead, they continue to subordinate their activities to internal administrative logics. In order to attract the best talents in the future, it is essential to think about the recruitment process from the target group’s perspective and to align the recruiting methods with their wishes, needs and way of living. This requires a change in the mindset of those involved in recruiting processes at universities of applied sciences and a new form of cooperation between administration, deaneries and professional HR staff.
