Abstract:
The sustainable use of expertise from within both administration and the scientific community for the development of the university represents a potential that remains underresearched. Results from a German state-funded project AGICA suggest that an intra-university knowledge transfer can unfold its potential if it is specifically managed, strategically anchored and secured in terms of resources. Transfer processes work well when they are organized on an interdisciplinary basis, supported by flexible structures and actively integrated into a university’s strategic development. Knowledge transfer benefits from an expressed culture of open dialogue, institutional support and digital solutions that are actively used. Thus, the success of such a knowledge transfer is not coincidental, but can be shaped especially by higher education leaders in a targeted manner – with the right framework conditions, supporting structures and a long-term strategic approach.
