Abstract:
Numerous work processes at universities require close cooperation between researchers and technical and administrative staff. However, friction and conflicts in collaboration are common. This article illustrates the manifestations and effects of communication difficulties and conflicts from a practice perspective and discusses possible underlying causes. From this, the authors derive approaches for designing conditions that can contribute to successful collaboration. Experiences with concrete measures are shared, primarily from the authors‘ work at Ruhr University Bochum. Finally, the article argues for status group diversity to be systematically adressed at HEIs, and to be discussed in the context of current shifts in political discourse.
