Abstract:
According to the 2004 resolution of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of Germany, counseling parents is one of the competencies that teachers should acquire as part of their training. Numerous research articles show that this training of prospective teachers is urgently needed. In the presented concept of a training, special emphasis is placed on the educational partnership with parents. Communicative counselling skills were trained and subject knowledge will be taught. The evaluation shows that prospective teachers have a significantly higher understanding of their role of partnership with parents and their professional counseling skills after attending the training. Also, they consider themselves better prepared for future professional counselling tasks.
