Abstract:
This article provides a systematic overview of the concept of metawork. Based on research, definitions, key characteristics, and fields of activity are presented, along with drivers and possible courses of action. The find-ings underscore the relevance of the concept for business and education. This leads to the realization that there is a possibility to design metawork effectively. In this context, transversal competences enable the successful management of dynamic, complex, and unforeseen situational requirements. This article concludes with a presentation of potential future research perspectives in business and higher education.
