Abstract:
The Family Room at Ostfalia University’s Faculty of Health Sciences exemplifies how care, education, and spatial design can drive transformative change in higher education. As a multifunctional space for students and staff with children, it promotes the compatibility of study, work, and family life while embodying a culture of inclusion and care. Grounded in early childhood education, kinaesthetic handling, and participatory design, the Family Room fosters responsive interaction and shared learning. Beyond infrastructure, it serves as a living laboratory for social innovation, integrating care work into academic life and setting new standards for equitable, family-friendly universities.
