Abstract:
Transdisciplinary research has gained increasing relevance in the German research landscape in recent years. In this article, we elaborate on key concepts of transdisciplinary research: Orientation towards real-world problems, processes of cognitive, communicative, emotional and social integration, embedment in specific contexts and the intention to be transformative, i.e. to have an impact in science and society. We also explain the ideal-typical transdisciplinary research process and discuss its implementation in research practice.
