Abstract:
Demographic change and the correlating shortage of skilled workers is increasingly being perceived by universities as a major challenge that is leading to considerable pressure to act. The article outlines the extent to which various factors are making it difficult to attract students and forcing university management to develop new strategies for profiling their study programs. The article discusses this problem area on the occasion of a newly established working group of the German Council of Science and Humanities (WR) and highlights the associated fields of action.
